Description

Inside _shift is a special bonus series recorded at Space Group’s annual _shift conference. It’s an event that brings together industry leaders and “empowered agents of change” to talk about how we can decarbonise the built environment and push the industry forward. This year, I was lucky enough to chat with some of the speakers and panellists, getting to hear their ideas, stories, and insights first hand.

In this episode, I’m joined by Chris Hines MBE, a long-time sustainability campaigner and thought leader. Chris co-founded Surfers Against Sewage in the early ’90s and later served as Sustainability Director at the Eden Project, where he helped pioneer circular economy initiatives like “Waste Neutral.”

With over 30 years of environmental activism under his belt, Chris brings a wealth of experience to the discussion - from strategic leadership and communications to embedding sustainability deep into business practice. He currently works with organisations eager to align ethics with profit, believing firmly that business can be a powerful force for good.

It was inspiring to hear his reflections on resilience, leadership, and how long-term commitment to the planet can shift the whole industry.
